The whole Regency/Consort mechanoc was literally just a way to get people to shell out $20 tonend the frustration that is Regency. Mehmed II and Louis IVX of France (The Sun King) were great examples, both taking the throne at 12 and 10 in that order. While consorts did take the throne in times of crisis, in reality most monarchs who's predecessors does earlier than expected actually took the throne from a young age. PDX also adds select DLCs into the main game to seem benevolent when in reality they were either satisfied with the profit they made from the DLC or are planning to rework it so they can make it a necessity in some other way.Ĭonsorts, for example, are actually historically innacurate. Just look at common sense: before it was added into the main game, you needed it to be successful anywhere outside of Europe or Anatolia. While Tonypa is right about not needing any of the DLCs to play the game, it can become quite frustrating without them, since PDX has a history of enveloping their game mechanics around DLCs. All of those contain features that make your playthrough a much less of a headache.
